Pet Portrait Cost and Other Questions, Answered
Thinking about commissioning a pet portrait and not sure where to start? Here is what people ask me most, from what a portrait costs to the photo I need. I'm Mandy, and I draw pastel portraits of pets, people and families from my studio in Cornwall, posted to you anywhere in the UK.

What photo should I send?
A clear, well-lit photo taken at your pet's eye level makes the biggest difference, ideally outdoors in natural light. Please avoid dark, blurry or heavily filtered images. If you are not sure your photo will work, send it over and I will tell you. You can see how a photo becomes a finished portrait in my Photo to Portrait post.

How long does a portrait take?

Can I see the portrait before it is finished?
Yes. I send you a work-in-progress image to review before I complete it. If you want any changes I can do that for you

Can you draw more than one pet, or people?
Yes. The larger sizes include two, three or more subjects, as the prices above show. I also draw people and families, from one person to a whole group.

Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. A deposit secures your place, from £35 for the smallest size. The deposit is non-refundable if I have started your portrait.

Is the portrait framed, and how is it posted?
No, your portrait arrives as a finished, ready-to-frame artwork. UK postage starts from £3.85 by recorded delivery.

Can I give a portrait as a gift?
Yes. If you are not sure of the size, a gift card lets them choose.
